Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal has started Sports Science Curriculum from 2013. According to the news published in Himalayan Times, the curriculum is started on the special request of National Sports Council .
Chief, Curriculum Division of HSEB, Mr. Ram Chandra Panday said, “We are all set to introduce the curriculum for higher secondary level students from the next academic session (2014). Sports science will be an optional subject under humanities and management faculty. The students of science faculty can also study this subject but its marks will not be added in their mark-sheets.”
After introducing Sports in Higher Secondary level if the students are more interested in this subject matter then National Sports Council will start effort to open Sports University in Nepal.
Sports Science will be of 200 marks, 100 for practical and 100 for theory.
Sports management, economic aspect of sports, sports tourism, sports and media, sports policy of various countries, sports law and athletics, karate, judo and swimming are few of the subjects that will be taught on this faculty.
This can be considered as milestone of Sport Education in Nepal. Hope Nepal will be able to produce qualified players in few years.
